My paintings are inspired by television: a vast reservoir from where I borrow characters.I have all kinds of pictorial fantasies, but the portrait inspires me the most, leading me along a path of questions I have about human beings. Human life and feelings are my inspiration, my figures are trying to represent the world through a perspective which is open to the interpretation of each individual and where the aesthetic aspect is but the visible part of secret anxiety.
It is not history, it is a weaving of life’s snapshots. The painting is not done to be an expression of words, the important thing is that the image exists, and then questions and captures the audience’s attention giving them total freedom of imagination. While working with photography and television, I remain committed to the specific problems of painting and drawing, essential in the process of ideation.

I live in Paris where I pace up and down the streets and pavements. As an urban photographer, the city remains my main source of inspiration, even if, at times, the desire to travel takes me far away.
However, behind the walls and streets, in Paris or elsewhere, it's always man my camera lens is hunting down.

A photograph in the press, information in the news, a television ad, a posture in the street: all food for thought to be translated into a sharp and brutal painting; all triggers for spontaneous, urgent painting…..

Patrick CHATELIER
Photographer |
 |
|

Patrick Chatelier is as much a traveller as a photographer. However, he is a patient traveller who takes his time to set up his shots……and to process them: it took him fifteen years to publish his first book. Patrick Chatelier wants things to take their rightful place: the desert is an ideal location for him. Nothing in his photos is left to chance. They cultivate such precision, such perfection of light, of season, that we can sense all the patience necessary to take them. Everything is in the patience behind the shutter. It is so perfect ... that you also feel the end of the experience, beyond which the photographer will set sail for other shores.

The spirit of my work could be illustrated by this quote from Henri Michaux: "Only circles go around [...] what is known, the unknown passes, comes, came will come back in encircling lines itching to be included (to be understood? to be taken? to be held back?). " Lives and works in Quimper / Higher National Diploma in Artistic Expression in 1989 / Exhibits since 1990 in France, Belgium, Sweden, China.

Nadine URVOAZ
Ceramist |

Funny, luminous figures, comically endearing chickens: the ceramics by Nadine Urvoaz look like they are dreaming awake. These unique objects, shaped by hand, without turning, are quick-fired, Raku style, hence their crackled finish, sometimes coppered and always surprising. The colourful enamels are applied with a brush. As a very young girl, I loved the decorative arts. After 10 years out in the insurance trade, here I am a little older and returning to my first love: sculpture and ceramics. My specialities: ceramic figures and animals and Raku firing.

Yanik PEN'DU
Painter, engraver, sculptor |

Yannick Pen'Du re-looks figurative animal motifs predominantly using traditional materials.Pen'du speaks of the moment when internal tensions call for a solution within creation, when images arise from the depths of being, from long ago, before any reason or word existed. These images mingle with the closer memories and present emotions in a big carnival. It's like a dream that the artist could stop at any moment, but to which he devotes himself so as to be able to steal some of the secrets of the omnipotence of "his alter ego"
Everything seemed possible then. The “animal instinct" is ready to be accountable for its excitement, to shape its views of the world and life.A curve, a colour, a medium, the thickness of a line, the fluctuations of the hand, the sensitivity or aggressivity of the brush seemingly express everything at that moment in time: everything is revealed, the unsaid, said and the world transformed.Born in 1960. A graduate of Fine Arts in Quimper, France / Lives and works in Brittany / Exhibits since 1985 in France and abroad.
